Art & comedy

  • On Saturday and Sunday, Jazz in the Park ATL is a free event in Old Fourth Ward Park. Take a chill pill from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Hairspray‘ is on stage at Out Front Theatre Thursday through Nov. 9. 
  • Tara Theatre presents a Greek Film Festival this weekend. The festival will include five critically acclaimed Greek feature films (all with English subtitles) Friday through Sunday. The festival wraps with a celebratory reception at the Hellenic Center Atrium on Clairmont Road.
  • “Mother, May I Sleep with Improv” is on stage at Dad’s Garage Theatre Saturdays through Nov. 9. Imagine a so-bad-it’s-good movie (usually targeted at women). Now, imagine that same movie, except funnier because it revels in how ridiculous it is. Head to Dad’s Garage to make sense of this.
  • Grab your family & head over to Harmony Park in Oakhurst for some amazing BBQ, Bands, Brews, Vendors, Kids Area, and lots of FUN! It’s the GA/FL game & there will be big screens playing the game. All benefitting your favorite community space, The Solarium! 
  • A new exhibit, “Golden Opportunity: Botanical Illustration,” is at Fernbank Museum through Jan. 1, 2025. 
  • For a scary good time, stop by the Starlight Drive-In in East Atlanta to catch “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” from the comfort of your car.
  • See “Dracula: The Failings of Men” Saturday through Nov. 3 at Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse. 
  • The exhibit, “Giants from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys” is open at the High Museum of Art through Jan. 19, 2025.

  • Haints and Saints Parade – Placita Latina is bringing back Decatur’s popular Halloween-themed parade!
  • Come out October 26, 2024 for an unforgettable day of fall fun at the 2nd Annual Benteen Park Fall Festival.
  •  Join – if you dare – the 5th annual A Grave Affair on October 26th, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the East View Cemetery! Presented by the East Lake Neighbors Community Association, this spine-tingling event promises a Halloween experience like no other.
  • Every weekend this month, Little 5 Points presents Ghost Tours.
  • Rhodes Hall, known as the Castle on Peachtree, presents its Legends and Lore tour Saturday through Oct. 30. You’ll hear scary stories and eerie tales of one of Atlanta’s most haunted buildings, which dates to 1904. 
  • Have a witchin’ good time at Fernbank’s adults-only costume party featuring themed cocktails, music from Amp’d entertainment and after-hours access to Armored Animals.
  • Ponce City Market is having an adults-only Halloween party on the roof Saturday and Sunday. Starting at 8 p.m., the Roof at Ponce City Market transforms into a Haunted Carnival. There will be a live DJ and a costume contest with a grand prize of cash and surprises valued at $1,000.
  • Head to Midtown Friday and Saturday night for Colony Square’s Midtown Halloween Block Party. More than 30 restaurants and bars will participate. Wear a costume for a chance to win the $500 prize.
  • Experience “Fantaween” at Pemberton Place Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • NETHERWORLD Haunted House is open through Nov. 9.

For the family:

  • Get ready for some spooky family fun in East Atlanta Village! EAV-O-Ween 2024 will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 3-5 PM in East Atlanta Village.
  • The popular family-friendly Brookhaven Touch-A-Truck event motors into Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • The Center for Puppetry Arts presents “The Headless Horseman of Silly Hollow” Wednesday through Sunday.
  • Also at the Center for Puppetry Arts, it’s time to do the Monster Mash. Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., wear your silliest, scariest costumes to celebrate the center’s fifth annual Monster Mash. The Love Family Atrium will be transformed into a Halloween dance party complete with trick-or-treating in the Worlds of Puppetry Museum, a special kid’s DJ and other fun Halloween-themed activities.
  • Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., bring the kids to Fernbank Museum of Natural History for Dinosaur Trick or Treat. 
  • Join Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association for a special spooky movie night showing of “The Nightmare Before Christmas”!
  • Fall family festivities from 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Atlanta History Center include trick or treating, an ice cream station, a children’s train, face painting, blacksmithing demonstrations and cider making.
  • Mozley Park Presents The 5th Annual Mozley Park Fall Festival. There will be a costume contest, art, treats, games, and more.
  • Youngsters may trick or treat at Children’s Museum of Atlanta this Saturday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Kids are invited to dress in their costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating and fang-tastically fun hands-on play, all with a live DJ and plenty of candy.
  • Boo at the Zoo, for the youngest members of the family, returns this weekend and again next weekend, Oct. 19 and 20 and Oct. 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. People of all ages will enjoy seasonal fun in a Zoo Atlanta transformed in the spooktacular spirit of Halloween. 
  • The Center for Puppetry Arts presents “Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote” through Oct. 20. 
  •  Continuing through October, Georgia Aquarium presents Haunted Seas in the Ocean Voyager, Tropical Diver and River Scout areas. On weekends from 2 until 6 p.m., the adventure intensifies with an enhanced trick-or-treat experience.  
  • The Armored Animal exhibit at Fernbank Museum of Natural History tells a story of protection and defense through artifacts, spiny displays and casts from animals like fish and dinosaurs. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 5, 2025.
  • Starting Sunday and continuing through the end of the month, it’s a Halloween Brick-or-Treat Monster Party at LEGO Discovery Center. The monsters take over with some exciting Halloween activities. 
  • Stone Mountain Park’s annual Pumpkin Festival: Play by Day, Glow by Night is open. 
  • Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s fall featured exhibit, “Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking,” The exhibit will educate and entertain kids through Jan. 12, 2025. 

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • NBA basketball has begun a new season. The Atlanta Hawks welcome the Charlotte Hornets for a 7:30 p.m. Friday game at State Farm Arena.
  • The Morehouse College Maroon Tigers host the Fort Valley State University Wildcats at 2 p.m. Saturday at B.T. Harvey Stadium.
  • Stop in at the Chattahoochee Nature Center for a Halloween Hike during which you’ll encounter glow in the dark games, arts and crafts and face painting. While you’re there, enjoy a bite from a food trucks, s’mores, craft beer, wine and a signature cocktail. Take a hike Friday through Sunday.
  • The Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame is partnering with The Home Depot to present its annual Haunted Hall of Fame Saturday and Sunday. 
  • Hank Aaron Exhibit at Atlanta History Center
    Explore the life and legacy of baseball legend Hank Aaron.
  • Atlanta’s popular fall tradition is back for its 22nd year. Scarecrows in the Garden returns, celebrating autumn with colorful creations from the community.  The scarecrows get a little creepier after dusk during Fest-of-Ale when guests can enjoy craft beers and live entertainment Thursday – Saturday , Oct. 3 – 26 from 5 until 8 p.m.
