ALL THINGS FIREWORKS:
- Chamblee: City Hall Green Space – The city of Chamblee will host a family-oriented Fourth of July celebration again in 2024. The summer concert and fireworks will take place from 5 until 10 p.m. on July 4. The location is the new Chamblee City Hall, located at 3518 Broad St., in the downtown Chamblee entertainment district. There will be live music, fireworks, food and activities for kids and families.
- Decatur: Downtown – Decatur’s Fourth of July Pied Piper Parade starts at 6 p.m. It wends through downtown with floats, wagons, and bicycles. Music at the community bandstand starts at 7 pm. Fireworks begin at approximately 9.pm.
- Dunwoody: Streets of Dunwoody – Dunwoody’s Fourth of July celebration draws more than 2,500 participants and more than 35,000 spectators. This year’s theme is “Red, White & YOU.” Considered the largest Independence Day parade in the state of Georgia, it features floats, marching bands, vintage cars, clowns and animals. Parade spectators are encouraged to set up chairs along Mount Vernon Road and circle around the Dunwoody Village Parkway into Dunwoody Village.
- Johns Creek: Newtown Park – The city of Johns Creek celebrates our country’s independence at Newtown Park with live music, activities, food and a fireworks display from 6 to 10 p.m. on July 3. The free event features food trucks and music from the band Boogilicious.
- Lawrenceville: Lawrenceville Lawn – The city of Lawrenceville will host a special Prelude to the Fourth from 5 until 10 p.m. on July 3. Guests are invited to gather on the Lawrenceville Lawn for a festive, free family-friendly event.
- Marietta: Fourth in the Park – The City of Marietta’s 4th In The Park Celebration begins at 10 a.m. on July 4 and includes a parade, free live concerts, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and fireworks finale.
- Roswell: Roswell Area Park – The city of Roswell plans a July 4 celebration beginning at 6 p.m. in Roswell Area Park.
- Sandy Springs: City Springs – The Sandy Springs Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration at City Springs begins at 4 p.m., accompanied by the tunes of the band A-Town A-List starting at 7:30 p.m. A fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.
- Stone Mountain Park – Stone Mountain Park’s Fantastic Fourth celebration runs July 1-7. Visitors are invited to enjoy family attractions and live entertainment, followed by the new Music Across America Light Show. Tickets are required for the light show and fireworks.

- Be one of 150,000 spectators cheering on the 60,000 participants in the country’s largest road race. The AJC Peachtree Road Race takes place along the course’s 10-kilometer route from Peachtree Road at Lenox Square Mall to Piedmont Park

- July 4th Fireworks Celebration at Six Flags Over Georgia – Enjoy fun and thrills with roller coasters, a waterpark, fireworks and more. July 3-6.
- 4th of July Activities at Lanier Islands – Celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks over the beach, dining events, playing in the water park and more. July 3-7.
- 4th of July Block Party at The Krog District – Celebrate with a live DJ, vendor market, yard games and more. July 4.
- FUNNY GIRL, the sensational musical comedy revival, is coming to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre for a limited one-week engagement from July 30 – Aug. 4 as part of the Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2023/2024 season. Single tickets go on sale May 3 at 10 a.m. at the at the Fox Theatre box office at 660 Peachtree Street NE, by visiting foxtheatre.org/FunnyGirl or by calling 855-285-8499. Group orders of 10 or more may be placed by contacting sales@foxtheatre.org. FUNNY GIRL will play for a limited one-week engagement in Atlanta from July 30 – Aug. 4.
- West End Skate Party @Best End Brewing – July 3rd.
- Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse opens Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” this weekend. Rosalind disguises herself as a man as Orlando litters the trees with love notes praising her beauty and virtue. Will the two lovers be united? Will Orlando survive the wrestling match? See it Friday through July 27.
- “More Than Brave: The Life of Henry Aaron” is open at Atlanta History Center.
- Atlantic Station hosts Creator’s Market from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon until 7 p.m. Sundays, every weekend through December.
- Meditate with the Butterflies at Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) Sunday from 10 a.m. until noon. This quiet time occurs before CNC opens to the public. It is an opportunity to experience butterflies in a new way.
For the family:
- The Center for Puppetry Arts is showing “Sesame Street The Musical through Aug. 4.
- The Alliance Theatre’s Hertz Stage presents “Babble Lab,” a blubbering and blibbering exploration of spoken blurbbles as they spring forth in this one-of-a-kind, gee-gaw-filled laboratory. When an experiment unexpectedly goes awry, a concoction of sneaky, sprightly L E T T E R S takes over a weird and wondrous science lab. Watch them jump into jars, spring from drawers, bounce around the room and even play hide-and-seek as our scientist makes her surprising findings: Bluku terullala blaulala loooo! Rakete bee bee? Rekate bee zee! It is on stage through July 28.
- UniverSoul Circus flies high at Atlantic Station through Sunday. Featuring stars from five continents, all backed by the beat of World Music, UniverSoul Circus reimagines itself this year with more than a dozen culturally diverse performances. The circus features never-before-seen acts from Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Mongolia as well as an 18-person flying trapeze act from China.
- The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” Saturday through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden.
- A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature – On view June 8 – Sept. 9, 2024 at Fernbank Museum.
Sports, fitness & outdoors:
- The Atlanta Braves open a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies Friday at Truist Park. First pitch Friday night occurs at 7:20 p.m. Fans should stick around after the game for Friday Night Fireworks. Saturday’s game begins at 7:15 p.m. Fans who come early can enjoy the music of Party Nation on the Georgia Pavilion stage prior to the first pitch. On Sunday, Kids Run the Bases Day, first pitch occurs at 1:35 p.m. On July 4, at home, the Braves wrap up a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants. That game begins at 7:20 p.m.
- Piedmont Park’s most popular fitness class is back! This 1.5 hour strength building, core sculpting, heart pumping pool workout is perfect for the summer! Be prepared for for a circuit-training, total-body class for the first 45 minutes of class (wear tennis shoes).
