- City Green Live Concert: Fastball Friday at 9PM – FREE!
- The Atlanta Hip Hop Day Festival convenes at Historic Fourth Ward Park on Saturday and Sunday. Celebrate Atlanta’s contribution to hip-hop culture with DJ SCREAM of The Big Facts Podcast and DJ Swamp Izzo of Cash Money Records. This years festival also features the DistroKid Hour where young hip-hop artists perform.
- Taste of Soul Atlanta brings music and food to Downtown Saturday and Sunday near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Chow down on fried chicken, smothered pork chops, ribs and candied yams while grooving to tunes from 100 performers.
- The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival celebrates Black cultural heritage. In addition to screenings, there will be readings, workshops, awards and a Black art expo. The event occurs Friday and Saturday at Holiday Inn Suites Atlanta Airport North and Southwest Arts Center.
- Horizon Theatre opened its 40th season with the comedy “Wild With Happy,” playing through Sept. 15.
- A new exhibit, “Golden Opportunity: Botanical Illustration,” opens at Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Saturday. It continues through Jan. 1, 2025.

- It’s Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta, and that means Dragon Con takes over Downtown.
- Atlanta Black Pride salutes LGBTQ people of color all week long and into Labor Day Weekend. Highlights include the Pure Heat Community Festival at Piedmont Park on Sunday, the Women’s Empowerment Brunch on Saturday and an LGBTQ Youth Festival at Piedmont Park on Sunday.
- Live! at The Battery presents the Atlanta Wine Walk on Saturday from 4 until 7 p.m. Taste a variety of wines, listen to live music on The Plaza stage, shop local vendors and play games.
- Don’t forget to grab your tickets to the Ansley Park Tour of Homes – October 5-6th!
- Wednesdays through Saturdays throughout August, InterContinental Buckhead is having a summer soiree. Sip hand-crafted cocktails at the Belvedere Infusion Garden Wall, adorned with flowers and lush greenery. Music will be provided by the hotel’s house musicians. The Americano will provide small bites. This event occurs from 4 until 9 p.m.
- Corteo, the most enchanting arena production from Cirque du Soleil, is back in North America and heading to Duluth, set to charm audiences in August.
- Dining in the Dark: A Unique Blindfolded Dining Experience at Commerce Club Atlanta
- Rise and Dine with the Animals at the Zoo, where you can enjoy a continental breakfast while also enjoying an early morning view of the animals as they get ready to start their day.
- Atlantic Station hosts Creator’s Market from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon until 7 p.m. Sundays, every weekend through December.

- Don’t let the kids (or adults) miss Dragon Con’s Annual Parade in Peachtree Center Downtown Atlanta! Totally free. Just grab a seat and enjoy the costumes, cars and more!
- The Children’s Museum of Atlanta announces the return of TinyCON, celebrating movies, games, characters and more. The two-day event occurs Saturday and Sunday. Children can design moon-moving devices at the Minions Maker Space, create “Inside Out 2”-themed slime and undergo special Jedi training. They can embark on a Pokémon scavenger hunt throughout the museum. Costumes are encouraged, and tickets should be purchased in advance. The museum will be closed to general admission; reservations are required.
- “Owl at Home” at the Center for Puppetry Arts is the story of an owl who lives by himself and likes warm soup and Tear Drop Tea. Owl welcomes Winter to his home because Winter needs warming up. “Owl at Home” is part of the Theater for the Very Young series and will be on stage through Sept. 8. The show is for audiences ages 2 and older.
- The Children’s Museum of Atlanta has opened its third installment of the Step Up to Science exhibit. There are opportunities to explore shadows, sources of light, color theory and vibrations.
- A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature – On view June 8 – Sept. 9, 2024 at Fernbank Museum.
- Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden.
Sports, fitness & outdoors:
- The University of Georgia and Clemson University meet in the Aflac Kickoff Game at noon Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
- Late August means it is time for the PGA TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club. Watch the PGA’s top golfers compete Thursday through Sunday.
- Westside Motor Lounge presents a Countdown to Kickoff Friday from 3 until 11 p.m. Enjoy food, drinks, live music, special guests and performances.
