  • The 48th annual Atlanta Film Festival + Creative Conference opens Thursday and continues through May 5 at Plaza Theatre, Tara Theatre and virtually. 
  • Tom Segura Stand-Up Comedy at The Fox – Multiple dates until 04/27/2024 
  • The Sound Waves Music Series kicks off Friday night at Georgia Aquarium. Every Friday from April 26 through May, Georgia Aquarium’s Sound Waves celebrates the arts, diversity and local talent. Enjoy live music with enhanced lighting and atmospheric elements in the atrium to complement the artists. You will have access to the aquarium’s galleries, included with general admission. Sound Waves occurs from 5 until 8 p.m.
  • ARTucker, a free daylong festival in downtown Tucker, showcases local artists and artisans. It’s family friendly with free children’s activities like facepainting and chalking. Located at the Church Street Greenspace, 4316 Church Street. Convenient parking nearby. Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Richard Wagner’s “Die Walküre” opens this weekend at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.”
  • Dad’s Garage presents “To Peach Their Own,” Saturday through May 4. Scenes, songs and characters take a look at Atlanta in a way that only Dad’s Garage can. “To Peach Their Own” is a new and original comedy revue that will leave you peach-less.
  • MODA (Museum of Design Atlanta) opens the exhibit “Al Dente: The Design of Pasta” on Friday.
  • “Mercury” is on the stage at Actor’s Express – King Plow Arts Center from April 11th to April 28th.
  • Oakhurst Jazz Nights – The Solarium (Decatur) Jazz it up with the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association for the 20th season of Oakhurst Jazz Nights, featuring free outdoor jazz concerts every Thursday in April at the Solarium, promising an evening of musical delight.  oakhurstjazznights.com Thursdays (April 4, 11, 18 and 25) from 7 – 9 p.m.

  • Blandtown Bites: A Foodie Adventure in West Midtown – Saturday April 27 11 AM at Steady Hand Beer Co.
  • Turn back the calendar during “Back to the ’80s Adult Prom” at Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Adults 21 and older can enjoy a night of nostalgia from 7:30 until 11:30 p.m. Friday. The night will be packed with favorite hits, cocktails, tapas and more. 
  • Heritage Fire, which unites live-fire cooking, family farms and local chefs, returns to Atlanta this weekend. The goal is to celebrate heritage breed livestock, heirloom produce and good food.
  • 2024 Midtown Mutt Gala – 10th Street Park – Sunday from 2-5PM
  • Wylde Center’s Beer Garden and Silent Auction is the spring event that you do not want to miss! This year’s Beer Garden will feature music from Conundrums and The Thrillbillies. We will have all of your favorite local brews and local bites to enjoy, as well as an extensive silent auction with amazing art, adventures and more.
  • The Georgia Renaissance Festival, a trek back to the 16th century, opens Saturday and runs weekends through June 2.
  • Illumine returns to Oakland Cemetery this weekend, Thursday through Sunday and again April 25-28. 
  • Reynoldstown Farmer’s Market – Located in the shady parking lot in front of Lang Carson Recreation Center at 100 Flat Shoals Ave, SE Atlanta, the market is just 100 yards off the Beltline. Join the neighbors of Reynoldstown Sundays from noon to 3pm for this festive market.
  • Also at Atlantic Station, from 1 until 5 p.m., there will be the Atlanta Seafood Festival in the Pinnacle lot. There is a fee, and admission includes variety of beer, wine, mimosas, music and plenty of seafood plus some non-seafood. Tickets include entry, entertainment, souvenir cup and all drink samples. Food costs extra.
  • The Balloon Museum at Pullman Yards is flying high through June 9.

For the family:

  • Spiders — From Fear to Fascination” is on view at Fernbank Museum of Natural History through May 5.
  • Stellaluna‘ is playing at Center for Puppetry Arts through May 19.
  • Dino Festival at Stone Mountain Park runs through April 28. Check the Stone Mountain Park website for specific times and dates for various events.
  • The popular exhibit Flora, Fauna & Flight returns to Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Saturday March 23rd and continues through June 23.
  • The Children’s Museum of Atlanta hosts “Outside the Box”. The exhibit runs through May 5. “Outside the Box” aims to fuel children’s imaginations by unleashing a world of timeless fun.  

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • The Atlanta Braves welcome the Cleveland Guardians for a three-game series at Truist Park this weekend.
  • The Atlanta Vibe welcomes the Vegas Thrill to Gas South Arena Sunday at 2 p.m. The Vibe is ranked first in the Pro Volleyball league with a 17-5 record.
  • Georgia Plant Swap + Sale Avondale at Wild Heaven Beer – Saturday 1PM – 8PM
  • Atlantic Station is the site of an MS Walk from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday. The walk is a fund-raiser for the Georgia Chapter of the National MS Society. There will be music, free refreshments for participants and a 1-mile loop for walkers who choose 1, 2 or 3 loops. There will be race day specials in Atlantic Station restaurants and shops for those showing proof that they participated.
  • Move For Grady is returning to the heart of the city on Saturday, April 27th, at Georgia’s State’s Center Parc Stadium. 
  • Atlanta History Center launches new Hank Aaron exhibit.
