  • Find unusual pieces of art during Zoo Atlanta’s Art Gone Wild Artist Market from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. The market features a curated variety of original art, jewelry, home décor, apparel, pottery, rugs, wood accessories, stationery, body products, pet accessories and more. A number of this year’s featured artists integrate biology and nature inspirations into their works. The Georgia Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, of which many of Zoo Atlanta’s animal care professionals are members, will be on hand with pieces of authentic ostrich eggs which you may decorate at the market and take home.
  • The Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces introduces the Uncommon Bizarre, a new two-day event at Piedmont Park Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors will included makers, crafters, jewelers, photographers and skilled artists in various mediums. There will be culinary delights and summer sips from food trucks.
  • The High Museum of Art’s popular Oasis event has moved Saturday. Oasis invites you to embark on a journey of self-discovery through activities designed to promote mental well-being. Immerse yourself in movement-based sessions led by local yoga instructors, unwind with soothing sonic experiences or unleash your creative expression in art-making activities led by teaching artists. In the Seeing with Spirit dialogue series, engage in conversations that explore the intersection of art and spirituality. Oasis occurs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • Hammonds House Museum presents “Rhythm of Resilience: The Artistry of Sam Middleton” through Aug. 18. 
  • Hammonds House Museum opens a new exhibit on Friday. “Rhythm of Resilience: The Artistry of Sam Middleton” runs through Aug. 18. A master of collage, Middleton’s compositions weave together musical scores, photographs and graphic elements in a dance of color and form. His art is a testament to the enduring influence of jazz.
  • Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse is showing Ken Ludwig’s “The Three Musketeers” through June 30.

More fun things!

  • Celebrate the arrival of summer at Georgia Aquarium on Friday by enjoying unlimited beer, hard seltzer and cider samples in a souvenir tasting cup during the “20,000 Beers Under the Sea” event. You’ll have access to a summer-inspired buffet dinner, live band and DJ performances, and more than 500 aquatic species to discover. All proceeds benefit Georgia Aquarium’s Education Programs. 
  • Atlanta History Center plans a Juneteenth celebration for Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Enjoy on-campus events, cooking demonstrations, museum theater and exhibitions, including “More Than Brave: The Life of Henry Aaron” and “Barbecue Nation.” Bring your water bottles, blankets, lawn chairs and anything else your family needs to be comfortable on the lawn as you join the folks at Atlanta History Center to celebrate Juneteenth.
  • Head to Oakland Cemetery on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a celebration for the whole family. Learn about the significance of Juneteenth while you enjoy live music, food vendors, children’s storytelling, a vendor market, a libations ceremony and more. Free tours of the historic African-American burial grounds will also be available, but registration is required.
  • The National Center for Civil and Human Rights will remember Juneteenth Saturday, Sunday and June 19. On Saturday there will be quilt mural, a scavenger hunt, trivia and outdoor activities.   • Stop by Fernbank Museum of Natural History Friday for Fernbank After Dark. A ticket for the 7 to 11 p.m. event grants you full museum access, including the new “A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature” exhibit. Also, enjoy tapas, cocktails, live music and activities like meeting some of the in-house invertebrates, learning about phantom limbs and guessing what’s in a box based on touch.
  • Reynoldstown Farmer’s Market – Located in the shady parking lot in front of Lang Carson Recreation Center at 100 Flat Shoals Ave, SE Atlanta, the market is just 100 yards off the Beltline. Join the neighbors of Reynoldstown Sundays from noon to 3pm for this festive market.

For the family:

  • The Center for Puppetry Arts is showing “Sesame Street The Musical through Aug. 4. 
  • Kids Video Connection, Inc. will present the 17th annual Atlanta Children’s Film Festival (ACFF) from June 7 – 23, 2024. The ACFF features two and a half weeks of eye-opening and exciting activities, including film screenings and workshops for children, teens, and industry professionals. 
  • UniverSoul Circus flies high at Atlantic Station through Sunday. Featuring stars from five continents, all backed by the beat of World Music, UniverSoul Circus reimagines itself this year with more than a dozen culturally diverse performances. The circus features never-before-seen acts from Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Mongolia as well as an 18-person flying trapeze act from China.
  • The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” Saturday through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden. 
  • A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature – On view June 8 – Sept. 9, 2024 at Fernbank Museum.

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • Atlanta Streets Alive opens Peachtree Street between 15th and Mitchell streets to pedestrians Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Wear your walking shoes, bring your bike, show off your roller skating skills. Mostly, enjoy Atlanta’s most famous street without the traffic.  
  • Atlanta United hosts Houston Dynamo FC at 7:30 pm. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
  • The game between the Atlanta Dream and the Los Angeles Sparks tips off at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gateway Center Arena. 
  • A three-game series between the Atlanta Braves and the Tampa Bay Rays happens Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Truist Park. First pitch on Friday is at 7:20 p.m., and the game will be followed by Friday Night Fireworks. Saturday’s game gets under way at 4:10 p.m. It is Play Ball Weekend at the ballpark so the first 250 kids at Playball Alley will receive a Franklin bat and ball set. On Sunday, game time is 1:35 p.m., and Play Ball Weekend continues. 
  • Piedmont Park’s most popular fitness class is back! This 1.5 hour strength building, core sculpting, heart pumping pool workout is perfect for the summer! Be prepared for for a circuit-training, total-body class for the first 45 minutes of class (wear tennis shoes). Please bring swimwear for the second half of class.  8:30am to 10:00am **1.5 HOUR CLASS!!**Saturdays June 4-July 16 .
