all the arts:

  • The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre performs at the Fox Theatre Thursday through Saturday. 
  • Saturday night only, see a cappella group Take 6 at the Rialto Center for the Arts. Winners of 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards and a Soul Train Award, the 2014 Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees unite six voices in harmony.
  • 7 Stages presents “Eunice in Paris,” a one-woman show about Nina Simone, Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.  
  • “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812” returns to the stage at Horizon Theatre on Friday.
  • Limelight Comedy Night – a thoughtfully curated line up of top Atlanta-based and touring stand-up comics, featuring comics from Atlanta’s favorite comedy clubs is this Friday!
  • Sounds Like ATL, WABE’s concert series showcasing the music tapestry of Atlanta, takes over the High Museum of Art Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday brings Teen Night to the High from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Teens may participate in art-making activities, enjoy music and performances, and take gallery tours. 
  • Hammonds House Museum launches its 2024 exhibition season with  artist Precious Lovell’s exploration of the experiences of Black American women and their interconnected relationships in two new collections, “The Fabric Of Our Lives: The Ties That Bind” and “Ex-Domestication.” The exhibition opens Friday and be on view through April 15.
  • The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) hosts the exhibit “Please Be Seated”. The exhibit runs through March 11.
  • The Cirque du Soleil show “Echo” is open under the big top at Atlantic Station.
  • See “Pericles: Prince of Tyre” at Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse Saturday through Jan. 27. 
  • Welcome to Limelight Comedy Night – a thoughtfully curated line up of top Atlanta-based and touring stand-up comics, featuring comics from Atlanta’s favorite comedy clubs! – Friday the 26th
  • Atlanta’s CDC Museum has opened the exhibit, “Ghosts of Segregation: Photographs of Rich Frishman.” The exhibit explores the lingering presence of segregation, slavery and institutional racism hidden in everyday American architecture.

  • Mark your calendars for Lanta Gras 2024! The parade and festival will be held in Downtown Kirkwood. – Jan 27th!
  • Wildwoods: AGLOW at Fernbank Museum of Natural History will remain open on select nights through Feb. 25.
  • If you’re craving tasty, handcrafted Asian delicacies, on Friday, January 26 from 6 to 11 p.m, Pullman Yards is hosting some of Atlanta best Atlanta’s Asian-American Pacific Islander vendors. Come celebrate ATL’s AAPI communities for a night full of art, food, culture & more! Event is free. All ages are welcome. 
  • Join the Atlanta Camping & RV Show in Atlanta this weekend.
  • Calling all car enthusiasts! Every last Saturday, Gateway Classic Cars hosts our Caffeine & Chrome event. This fun event is open to the public and has NO admission fee. Cruise in with your collectible car or daily driver and bring your appetite. Indulge in pastries and coffee* (while supplies last). All makes and models are welcome, with plenty of parking space. This is a family and pet friendly event! See you there!
  • Have an unforgettable night with candlelights concerts, a series of original music concerts created by Fever aimed at democratizing access to classical music by allowing people to enjoy live music performances played by local musicians in various stunning locations, illuminated by thousands of candles. Candlelight was initially conceived as a classical music series with concerts featuring works from the greatest composers. Now, the list of programs includes a wide variety of themes and genres. Options this week include Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Coldplay. Next weekend includes an option for Taylor Swift!
  • Join a night of beauty and beers at ‘Got2BThere!’ the first ever BrewDog Friday night drag show + pop up dance party! Enjoy performances from Jaybella Banks, Miss He, Minty, and your gorgeous hostess, Ivy Fischer. then afterwards, stay to dance to sounds by DJ Wav Make.

For the family:

  • Tired of this cold, dreary weather? Come join The West End Parents Network for a movie, hot cocoa, and blankets on January 28th. Movie: Ice Age. Meet at Monday Night Garage at 9:30 AM, movie will begin at 10 AM.
  • The Children’s Museum of Atlanta hosts “Outside the Box”. The exhibit runs through May 5. “Outside the Box” aims to fuel children’s imaginations by unleashing a world of timeless fun.  
  • Dad’s Garage presents “Adventure Playhouse” a part-scripted and part-improv comedy show for kids, on stage through March 2. Showtime is Saturdays at 3 p.m. 
  • Westside Sports League is a Year-round program for youth in grades 3rd to 12th. Youth participate in sports such as baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball.

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • State Farm Arena hosts the Atlanta Hawks vs. the Dallas Mavericks on Friday at 7:00 p.m. At 6 p.m. Sunday the Hawks welcome the Toronto Raptors.
  • Braves Fest 24 is this weekend at Truist Park. The weekend begins with a fund-raising gala on Friday night and ends with a free festival on Saturday where fans may get autographs of players and coaches, participate in kids activities, baseball clinics and Q&A panels. The Saturday event is free, but you must obtain a free ticket to gain admission. Check the Braves website. While admission is free, some of the Saturday events will charge a fee. All proceeds from the weekend go to support underserved populations in Braves Country.
  • Watch amateur basketball at Atlantic Station’s Overtime Elite Arena this weekend.

    Sign up as a Krewe to walk in the parade or sign up as a sponsor to help us raise money for music and arts education in Decatur.
