  • The High Museum of Art opens the exhibit, “Tyler Mitchell: Idyllic Space” on Friday. Mitchell is an American photographer and filmmaker renowned for his portrayals that center Black self-determination and empowerment through scenes of love, leisure and camaraderie. 
  • Alpharetta Art in the Park at Brooke Street Park! – 6/29/24 – 6/30/24
  • The exhibit “Dutch Art in a Global Age: Masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston” is open at the High Museum of Art. 
  • An exhibit opening at Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Saturday brings 18 larger-than-life metal sculptures of flowers and animals to the nature trails in WildWoods, The exhibit, “Forest Forms,” features sculptures inspired by nature and created by Huelani Mei. The sculptures include a fox family, flowers, rabbits, a snake archway, a peacock and more. “Forest Forms” will be open at Fernbank through Sept. 29.
  • Hammonds House Museum presents “Rhythm of Resilience: The Artistry of Sam Middleton” through Aug. 18. 
  • Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse is showing Ken Ludwig’s “The Three Musketeers” through June 30.
  • A1A – The Official & Original Jimmy Buffet Tribute – 6/29/24 – Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre.

  • The Southern Surf Slam presented by Surf ATL will be a three-day event of surf, sport, food & bev, entertainment, community, and culture for the entire family, featuring a premier wake surfing competition! All on Lake Lanier at Lake Lanier Olympic Park! Dates – June 28-29
  •  Celebrate the last days of Pride with Pride in the Park! 
  • Afro Street Jams is a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and creativity that brings people of all backgrounds to experience the richness of arts, cuisine, and traditions – 6/29/24 – The Woodruff Arts Center
  • Atlantic Station hosts Creator’s Market from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon until 7 p.m. Sundays, every weekend through December. The market offers a shopping experience featuring more than a dozen vendors of hand-crafted products ranging from jewelry and home décor to soaps and candles. There also are tasty treats, artists and fun.
  • Taiwanese Heritage Showcase – Brook Run Park – 6/30/24
  • Reynoldstown Farmer’s Market – Located in the shady parking lot in front of Lang Carson Recreation Center at 100 Flat Shoals Ave, SE Atlanta, the market is just 100 yards off the Beltline. Join the neighbors of Reynoldstown Sundays from noon to 3pm for this festive market.

For the family:

  • Enjoy a family celebration of the bees, butterflies, birds and other animals that pollinate plants and are responsible for many fruits and vegetables at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens – June 28, 10 a.m. – noon.
  • Family Fun Day at Monday Night Garage on the Westside – join got bouncy houses, face painting and more!
  • The Center for Puppetry Arts is showing “Sesame Street The Musical through Aug. 4. 
  • Plan your Sunday morning at Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) where you can have Breakfast with Butterflies. The family-friendly morning provides exclusive access to CNC’s Butterfly Encounter. You’ll be treated to a light breakfast, experience several species of butterflies and explore the grounds before the center opens to the general public. This event runs from 10 a.m. until noon.

  • UniverSoul Circus flies high at Atlantic Station through Sunday. Featuring stars from five continents, all backed by the beat of World Music, UniverSoul Circus reimagines itself this year with more than a dozen culturally diverse performances. The circus features never-before-seen acts from Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Mongolia as well as an 18-person flying trapeze act from China.
  • The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” Saturday through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden. 
  • A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature – On view June 8 – Sept. 9, 2024 at Fernbank Museum.

  • Kids Night Out at the Zoo – Send your kids to the Zoo for a wildly fun and educational evening with their trained Educators. Activities are purposefully designed for children ages 5-11 and include a guided after-hours tour of the Zoo, games and activities, crafts, story time, and a pizza dinner. TIME(S): 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. COST: $42 per child MEMBER COST: $35 per child AGE RANGE: 5-11 years old 

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • Atlanta United and Toronto FC play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. 
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates are in town this weekend to face the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. First pitch on Friday night is at 7:20 p.m., and, as always on Friday nights at the ballpark, the game will be followed by fireworks. On Saturday, game time is 4:10 p.m., and it is Georgia Tribe Night when the Atlanta Braves recognize members and dignitaries of the Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe, the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee, the Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Council and members of the Georgia Council on American Indian concerns. Sunday is Kids Run the Bases Day. Game time is 11:35 a.m. 
  • The Southeast Plant Show is a plant filled 2 day event showcasing local and international houseplant nurseries, specialty houseplant collectors and artisans. With 70+ vendors this year, you will experience the largest selection of rare tropicals and common houseplants gathered under one roof at the Gwinnett Fairgrounds.
  • Piedmont Park’s most popular fitness class is back! This 1.5 hour strength building, core sculpting, heart pumping pool workout is perfect for the summer! Be prepared for for a circuit-training, total-body class for the first 45 minutes of class (wear tennis shoes). Please bring swimwear for the second half of class.  8:30am to 10:00am **1.5 HOUR CLASS!!**Saturdays June 4-July 16 .
  • On Friday and Saturday, Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) offers Guided Forest Bathing, an opportunity to connect with nature.  During this nearly three-hour ramble, you will wander, rest and participate in facilitated group gatherings as well as enjoy solo time. It is an opportunity to slow down, unplug, de-stress and practice presence in the moment. The experience is inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, which translates to “forest bathing,” a chance to soak in the therapeutic benefits of being present in nature. 
  • Come out to the Broad Street Boardwalk for 60 minutes of all-levels vinyasa flow each Saturday morning at 10:00 AM! Yoga classes are open to the public and FREE to attend with an RSVP. BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat) and water. These fun, accessible, and meditative practices will leave you feeling peaceful yet invigorated–and part of a great community. Classes are designed for beginners and advanced practitioners alike and all ages are welcome!

  • FUNNY GIRL, the sensational musical comedy revival, is coming to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre for a limited one-week engagement from July 30 – Aug. 4 as part of the Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2023/2024 season.
