What is a ceramic coating? How long does ceramic coating last?
Ceramic coating is a semi-permanent barrier that protects your car and provides additional gloss and shine. Each of our ceramic coatings come with a 2 to 5 year warranty. - Hand washing the vehicle and clay barring the paint to decontaminate the surface.
- Applying GTechniq’s iron and fallout remover with corrosion inhibitors and additives that will decontaminate the paint further.
- Drying the vehicle completely.
- Tapeing off the vehicle’s plastics, door trims, and headlights.
- The vehicles paint will then receive a 2-step polish that will help remove scratches, marring, swirl marks, etc. A 2-step polish is where we polish the vehicle entirely two different times using different abrasives and polishes to ensure that we have not only corrected any paint defects but added more gloss and shine to the paint before coating it.
- Once the polish is complete, the tape is removed and the polish is removed from the vehicle’s paint. A technician will then wipe each panel with panel wipe to remove any and all residue left from the polish. This will ensure that the coating creates the best bond with the paint as it is applied and cures.
- Your Gtechniq ceramic coating is then applied to each panel.
- If you select a 5-year ceramic option, we will then apply a 2 year Gtechniq coating on top of the 5 year coating. Layering the coatings this way adds further protection and ensures it truly lasts 5 years.
- We will then let the coating cure before adding a ceramic sealant on top of the coating(s). This is a step that is recommended by coating manufacturers but often overlooked by installers.
