  • Murder, She Improvised” is on stage at Dad’s Garage Theatre Fridays through Nov. 15. 
  • The Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit, “My New Yorks,” is on display at the High Museum of Art.

  • The Academy Theatre and Lynna Schmidt Productions are presenting Clue: The Musical the hilarious murder mystery comedy inspired by the Parker Brothers board game. 
  • A new exhibit, “Golden Opportunity: Botanical Illustration,” is at Fernbank Museum through Jan. 1, 2025. 
  • For a scary good time, stop by the Starlight Drive-In in East Atlanta to catch “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” from the comfort of your car.
  • See “Dracula: The Failings of Men” Saturday through Nov. 3 at Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse. 
  • The exhibit, “Giants from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys” is open at the High Museum of Art through Jan. 19, 2025.
  • The Native American Festival & Pow Wow at Stone Mountain Park begins Thursday and runs through Sunday. With multiple tribes represented, the festival is considered the largest gathering of its kind in Georgia and a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Friends and families of any age can experiment, play and make art in studio workshops and learn about art on view through gallery tours.   • On Saturday and Sunday, Jazz in the Park ATL is a free event in Old Fourth Ward Park. Take a chill pill from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Hairspray‘ is on stage at Out Front Theatre Thursday through Nov. 9. 
  • Tara Theatre presents a Greek Film Festival this weekend. The festival will include five critically acclaimed Greek feature films (all with English subtitles) Friday through Sunday. The festival wraps with a celebratory reception at the Hellenic Center Atrium on Clairmont Road.
  • “Mother, May I Sleep with Improv” is on stage at Dad’s Garage Theatre Saturdays through Nov. 9. Imagine a so-bad-it’s-good movie (usually targeted at women). Now, imagine that same movie, except funnier because it revels in how ridiculous it is. Head to Dad’s Garage to make sense of this.

  • Join Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association for a special spooky movie night showing of “The Nightmare Before Christmas”!
  • Fall family festivities from 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Atlanta History Center include trick or treating, an ice cream station, a children’s train, face painting, blacksmithing demonstrations and cider making.
  • Mozley Park Presents The 5th Annual Mozley Park Fall Festival. There will be a costume contest, art, treats, games, and more.
  • Youngsters may trick or treat at Children’s Museum of Atlanta this Saturday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Kids are invited to dress in their costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating and fang-tastically fun hands-on play, all with a live DJ and plenty of candy.

  •  Continuing through October, Georgia Aquarium presents Haunted Seas in the Ocean Voyager, Tropical Diver and River Scout areas. On weekends from 2 until 6 p.m., the adventure intensifies with an enhanced trick-or-treat experience.

  • The popular Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and Parade is this weekend. Enjoy the festival Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. and select your viewing spot for the parade on Sunday at 2 p.m. What else in on the schedule? Expect the second annual L5P Monster Hunt, a freak show, pop-ups from Atlanta’s best artists, live music and food trucks.
  • Oakhurst Porchfest: It’s that time of year again. Decatur’s grassrootsiest of grassroots events, where nearly 200 bands will rock, groove, folk and flow the neighborhood for seven straight hours. More than 30 bands to choose from every hour. Come and enjoy. Everyone’s welcome and it’s absolutely free. 
  • The Brookhaven International Festival returns to the Peachtree Creek Greenway on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20. The festival features a variety of live cultural performances and music, international cuisine, an art walk, Kidz Zone, health screenings, and vendors. A 5K race benefiting We Love Buford Highway will take place at 8AM on Sunday, October 20.
  • Capturing the Spirit of Oakland begins Thursday for it’s 18th year. History, culture and the thrill of Halloween converge during tours, which are designed to enlighten rather than frighten. The past is illuminated by lantern light as the sun sets, and costumed storytellers breathe life into the tales of Oakland’s notable and notorious residents. Live music sets the mood, and craft beer and an artisanal cocktail complete the evening. Arrive in costume to immerse yourself fully in the enchanting spirit of the night. Capturing the Spirit occurs Thursday through Sunday this week and next week.
  • Nobu Atlanta in Buckhead plans Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Friday from 9 until 10:15 pm. Enjoy music inspired by Halloween under the gentle glow of candlelight.
  • NETHERWORLD Haunted House is open through Nov. 9. 
  • Amore è Amore in Inman Park has transformed for the season! It’s the spot to be for Halloween-themed sips and treats.

  • The Stone Mountain Scottish Festival and Highland Games sets up this weekend at Stone Mountain Park. Regarded as one of the best Scottish festivals in the U.S, the games will include pipe bands, Scottish athletics, piping and drumming competitions, Highland dancers, country dancing, Scottish harping and fiddling. Also at the festival, find Scottish food and drink, clan tents and vendors selling goods imported from the British Isles as well as Celtic performers. 
  • The Atlanta Falcons welcome the Seattle Seahawks to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.

  • SCAD TVfest: Costume Design occurs from 2 until 9 p.m. Friday at 1470 Spring St. 
  • Hispanic Heritage Month continues through Oct. 15. There will be an Hispanic Heritage Celebration Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

  • The Atlanta Pride Festival is this weekend. Headquarters: Piedmont Park. The official Pride Kickoff Party occurs Friday at Georgia Aquarium. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Atlanta Pride Parade steps off at noon Sunday at Peachtree and 10th streets. On Saturday, the Trans March and Rally steps off at 1:45 p.m. at the Charles Allen Gate (Piedmont Park). The Bi Pan March and rally begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Charles Allen Gate, and the Dyke March and Rally starts at 5 p.m., also at the Charles Allen Gate. Various events will occur throughout the weekend at locations in Piedmont Park.

They can embark on a Pokémon scavenger hunt throughout the museum. Costumes are encouraged, and tickets should be purchased in advance.   • Owl at Home” at the Center for Puppetry Arts is the story of an owl who lives by himself and likes warm soup and Tear Drop Tea. Owl welcomes Winter to his home because Winter needs warming up. “Owl at Home” is part of the Theater for the Very Young series and will be on stage through Sept. 8. The show is for audiences ages 2 and older.
  • The Children’s Museum of Atlanta has opened its third installment of the Step Up to Science exhibit. There are opportunities to explore shadows, sources of light, color theory and vibrations.

  • It’s time for the always popular Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at the Fox Theatre. Here’s the lineup: 7:30 p.m. Friday brings a mystery selection. There’s a “Little Mermaid” sing-along at 1 p.m. on Saturday and a “Bohemian Rhapsody” sing-along at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Sunday at 1 p.m. brings “Casablanca,” and Sunday at 4 p.m. brings “West Side Story.”
  • The BronzeLens Film Festival begins on Wednesday and continues through the weekend. Events include daily screenings of new works by independent filmmakers from across the country and around the globe, workshops, panel discussions, the BronzeLens Awards and plenty more. The inaugural Filmmakers Ball will be held at City Hall on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. The BronzeLens Award Show occurs at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College.
  • Friday night welcomes Karla Harris and the Joe Alterman Trio to Jazz on the Lawn at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Music begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Fashion Statement, a fund-raiser for Susan G. Komen For the Cure, is set for Sunday at Phipps Plaza. The event begins with private in-store shopping experiences throughout the luxury retailer floor. A reception will feature curated cocktails and culinary creations from restaurants located at Phipps. There will be a live auction and a fashion show.

  • Center Parc Stadium is where you’ll want to be on Saturday when the Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kick-Off launches the 2024 college football season. The game, between the Florida A&M Rattlers and the Norfolk State Spartans, begins at 7:30 p.m., and there is plenty of activity ahead of the game. On game day, fan experiences begin at 3 p.m., and the 5th Quarter Battle of the Bands follows the post-game presentation. There are related events beginning on Wednesday.
  • The Atlanta Dream hosts the Phoenix Mercury at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Gateway Center Arena. Atlanta is ranked ninth on the season; Phoenix is ranked sixth.
  • The Washington Nationals are in town for a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves this weekend at Truist Park. 
  • The final pre-season game for the Atlanta Falcons is 7 p.m. Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The regular season begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
