The New Year is off to a busy start this year at Mint! We are excited for the first weekend guide of 2025, so let’s jump right in and find you all some fun things to do around town this weekend!
Art & comedy
- Andrew Santino: Freeze Peach Tour at Buckhead Theatre – This is an all ages, fully seated event. Doors at 7:00 PM. Show at 7:30 PM.
- The High Museum of Art on Friday opens an exhibit featuring the drawings collection of artist and Georgia State University professor Medford Johnston and his wife Loraine. It is considered one of the finest collections of postwar American drawings and related objects. This exhibition features works by artists including Sol LeWitt, Brice Marden, Elizabeth Murray, Martin Puryear and Stanley Whitney.
- The opening coincides with the High’s monthly Friday Jazz event. Jazz enthusiasts can visit the museum after hours, enjoy a drink and some light bites, and also get an early look at the new exhibit. Saturday brings the monthly Oasis event to the High. Oasis focuses on mindfulness and occurs the third Saturday of every month.
- The Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit, “My New Yorks,” is on display at the High Museum of Art.
- Ariana Grande Drag Brunch – City Winery Atlanta – Saturday at 12pm
- The exhibit, “Giants from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys” is open at the High Museum of Art through Jan. 19, 2025.

- It’s time to start planning for East Atlanta’s favorite neighborhood party. EAV need volunteers for lots of committees, including sponsorship, social media and marketing, volunteer management and the parade. Join us in the back room of Holy Taco on Sunday, Jan. 19, at noon. - The exhibit, “X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out,” opened last Saturday at Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History once again brings WildWoods Aglow to Atlanta. It is on exhibit through Feb. 23, 2025.

- Zoo Atlanta’s annual IllumiNights showcases vistas of brilliantly illuminated wildlife and captivating sights that celebrate the wonders of nature. This year, the zoo introduces new lanterns and experiences, transforming Zoo Atlanta into a nighttime wonderland. IllumiNights opens Thursday and continues through Jan. 19, 2025.
Celebrate MLK Day all weekend long at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Learn about Martin Luther King Jr., his message of hope and acceptance, and more with fun activities!
Sports, fitness & outdoors:
- All weekend long and through Monday ahead of the big game, College Football Playoff Fan Central is open and free to the public at the Georgia World Congress Center. Even if you don’t have a ticket for the game, you can experience the excitement of the College Football Playoff National Championship, which kicks off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20. The family-friendly fan event includes games, clinics, pep rallies, band performances, special guest appearances, autograph signings and exhibits celebrating college football and its history. On Sunday, Georgia Aquarium will host a ticketed event, Taste of the Championship, offering fans the opportunity to indulge in gourmet food and drink.
- Atlanta’s pro volleyball team, Atlanta Vibe, plays at home at Gas South Arena at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Vibe host the Grand Rapids Rise.
- Join a beginner-friendly bird-watching adventure through two beautiful Wylde Center gardens in Decatur: Hawk Hollow and Sugar Creek.
- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team hosts the Clemson Tigers women’s team at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCamish Pavilion.
- Hank Aaron Exhibit at Atlanta History Center.
