Been cooped up in the house all week? We’ve got you! Here are all the best things to do this weekend in Atlanta.
Art & comedy
- Steve Martin and Marin Short will be in town on Friday at the Fox at 8pm for the Dukes of Funnytown!
- Atlanta’s own Raymond Carr, filmmaker, puppeteer and creator of imaginative characters, enters the spotlight as the featured artist in the Puppetry NOW showcase at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Known for blending puppetry with cinematic flair and an absurdist touch, Carr has earned accolades for his innovative approach to storytelling. See it through March 16.(Fun fact: Raymond is also married to the owner of the Sentimentalist – a local bridal shop that we love!)
- Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann conducts Beethoven Symphonies 1 and 3 Thursday and Saturday at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
- Hammonds House Opens Brandywine Workshop and Archive
- High Museum of Art is featuring an exhibit of drawings belonging to artist and Georgia State University professor Medford Johnston and his wife Loraine. It is considered one of the finest collections of postwar American drawings and related objects. This exhibition features works by artists including Sol LeWitt, Brice Marden, Elizabeth Murray, Martin Puryear and Stanley Whitney.
- Alliance Theatre presents “Doctor De Soto” on the Hertz Stage through March 2. The 45-minute play for audiences ages 4 to 10 includes live-action, puppetry, music and rhyme. The De Soto family dentist practice takes pity on a suffering fox with a rotten tooth. But once he opens his jaws and they must step inside, they begin to rethink their decision.
- Following popular runs in 2024, “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812” returns to Horizon Theatre Friday through Feb. 23. Natasha is a beautiful ingenue visiting Moscow while she waits for her beloved fiancé, Andrey, to return from the war.
- The Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit, “My New Yorks,” is on display at the High Museum of Art.

- Stone Mountain Park is proud to host the third annual Lunar New Year Festival. This Asian-inspired festival pays tribute to the culture and New Year traditions of Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other countries that follow the lunar calendar. It features a special Lunar New Year Drone and Light Show on the largest screen in the world, a lighted parade, cultural craft activities, live entertainment, and other cultural elements.

- The exhibit, “X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out,” opened last Saturday at Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History once again brings WildWoods Aglow to Atlanta. It is on exhibit through Feb. 23, 2025.

- The Georgia State Panthers women’s basketball team plays the Old Dominion Monarchs at 1 p.m. Saturday at the GSU Convocation Center.
- The Georgia State men play the James Madison Dukes at 4 p.m. Saturday at the GSU Convocation Center.
- The Morehouse College men’s Maroon Tigers basketball team plays Fort Valley State Wildcats at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forbes Arena/McAfee Court.
