  • Join in and groove into the weekend at Krog Street Market with jazz duo Adam Stone & Alex Keiss – Friday 5-8PM.
  • Miami-based Museum of Graffiti presents Sneaker Stories this weekend only at Ponce City Market. The free experience explores the historical ties and evolving relationship between graffiti art and sneaker culture through displays featuring rare sneakers and their corresponding art inspiration. 
  • Megan The Stallion at State Farm is Friday and Saturday.
  • Every month, First Saturday at the High Museum of Art brings arts programming for all ages. 
  • Thriving Together Atlanta is a public art project that helps raise awareness about how systemic racism continues to impact the health and well-being of Atlanta citizens. The organization’s Equitable Dinners experience is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Atlanta Metro State College. 
  • Hammonds House Museum presents “Rhythm of Resilience: The Artistry of Sam Middleton” through Aug. 18. 
  • Hammonds House Museum opens a new exhibit on Friday. “Rhythm of Resilience: The Artistry of Sam Middleton” runs through Aug. 18. A master of collage, Middleton’s compositions weave together musical scores, photographs and graphic elements in a dance of color and form. His art is a testament to the enduring influence of jazz.
  • The Sound Waves Music Series kicks off Friday night at Georgia Aquarium. Every Friday from April 26 through May, Georgia Aquarium’s Sound Waves celebrates the arts, diversity and local talent. Enjoy live music with enhanced lighting and atmospheric elements in the atrium to complement the artists. You will have access to the aquarium’s galleries, included with general admission. Sound Waves occurs from 5 until 8 p.m.
  • “Threads of Justice,” a pop-up exhibit at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, celebrates American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The exhibit, inspired by the 1985 Garment Workers’ strike in Chinatown, showcases the work of 12 artists to honor Asian American experiences. See it through May 31.

  • Gala in the Garden – Be a part the best local party of the Summer and support critical repairs to our low-income and senior neighbors’ homes! It’s the annual Gala in the Garden at the East Lake Community Garden! (There is a chance to win a $500 Mint Mobile Gift Card at the auction this year!)
  • The well-loved Lavender Festival has returned to Roswell – June 1st from 10 – 5.
  • Atlanta Streets Alive opens Peachtree Street from 15th Street to Mitchell Street to pedestrians on Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. Glide on your skateboard, pedal you bicycle or let your feet to the work. Most importantly, have fun.
  • The Georgia Craft Brewers Festival pours a few on Saturday at Westside Paper. In addition to the brews, there will be music, local food, social meet-ups and a maker’s market. The festival will feature 50 participating breweries from across Georgia. The festival occurs from 1 until 5 p.m.
  • The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” Saturday through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden. 
  • UniverSoul Circus vaults into Atlantic Station this weekend and will fly high through June 2. 
  • Reynoldstown Farmer’s Market – Located in the shady parking lot in front of Lang Carson Recreation Center at 100 Flat Shoals Ave, SE Atlanta, the market is just 100 yards off the Beltline. Join the neighbors of Reynoldstown Sundays from noon to 3pm for this festive market.
  • The Balloon Museum at Pullman Yards is flying high through June 9.
  • The Georgia Renaissance Festival, a trek back to the 16th century, opens Saturday and runs weekends through June 2.

For the family:

  • This Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., head to the High for a family tour, Toddler Saturday and art making. Friends and families of any age can experiment, play, make art in studio workshops and learn about art on view through gallery tours.
  • Sunday brings the Flying Colors Butterfly Festival to Chattahoochee Nature Center. Meet pollinator experts and educators. Enjoy tasty food and live entertainment. Join the fun at the 25th annual event.
  • UniverSoul Circus flies high at Atlantic Station through Sunday. Featuring stars from five continents, all backed by the beat of World Music, UniverSoul Circus reimagines itself this year with more than a dozen culturally diverse performances. The circus features never-before-seen acts from Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic and Mongolia as well as an 18-person flying trapeze act from China.
  • The popular exhibit Flora, Fauna & Flight returns to Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Saturday March 23rd and continues through June 23.

  • Brew at the Zoo returns to the Atlanta Zoo on Saturday. Enjoy beer and wine samples, live music throughout the zoo, yard games and so much more while saying hello to the residents of the zoo. It all happens from 6 until 9:30 p.m.
  • The Georgia World Congress Center is headquarters this weekend for MomoCon, featuring Japanese anime, comics, tabletop games, video games and cosplay. Browse the exhibits, meet celebrities, have more fun that you thought possible. It all happens Friday through Sunday.
  • Celebrating 10 years of success in Avondale Estates, Wild Heaven Beer is hosting a Memorial Day Weekend bash with frosty brews, delicious eats, drink specials, music and more. The shenanigans kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24th, and continue throughout the weekend through Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th.
  • Stone Mountain Park’s annual Memorial Day extravaganza runs Friday through Sunday. 
  • Little 5 Points celebrates the Roots of Little 5 Points on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Findley Plaza. The event honors the heritage and traditions of the indigenous people who first called the area home. In addition to food and an artisans’ market, there will be a flute circle and open mic.

  • The Center for Puppetry Arts is showing “The Selfish Giant” this weekend. Based on the classic story by Oscar Wilde, this tale follows the journey of a selfish giant who learns about the true meaning of friendship and generosity through the innocence of children. 
  • Ever wonder what the animals are up to after the sun goes down? Join Zoo Atlanta after-hours for an evening adventure for the whole family! Tour the Zoo at dusk, use night-vision technology, search for animals that you wouldn’t normally see during the daylight hours, and enjoy special activities that vary from season to season. Don’t miss this wild evening exploring the Zoo!
  • Spiders — From Fear to Fascination” is on view at Fernbank Museum of Natural History through May 5.
  • Stellaluna‘ is playing at Center for Puppetry Arts through May 19.
  • The popular exhibit Flora, Fauna & Flight returns to Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Saturday March 23rd and continues through June 23.
  • The Children’s Museum of Atlanta hosts “Outside the Box”. The exhibit runs through May 5. “Outside the Box” aims to fuel children’s imaginations by unleashing a world of timeless fun. 

Sports, fitness & outdoors:

  • On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Atlanta United plays LAFC (Los Angeles Football Club) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
  • The Atlanta Dream and the Minnesota Lynx tip off at 6 p.m. Sunday at Gateway Center Arena. 
  • The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents “Alice’s Wonderland Returns” Saturday through Sept. 15. The exhibit features seven installations of 22 of the topiary-like mosaiculture pieces throughout the garden.

  • The 11th annual Midtown Garden Stroll, a free event, is Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. in the Historic Midtown Garden District on Penn Avenue. The stroll is an outdoor self-guided tour. You can expect to see formal gardens, casual gardens, fountains, espalier, backyard beekeeping, intricate brickwork and inspiring ideas for family yards. You may also visit the Garden Stroll Market where local artisans will showcase their creations, live musicians will play and a Midtown artist will complete a live painting. Tasty bites and drinks are also offered by Atlanta-based restauranteurs.

  • The Georgia Brain Tumor Walk & Race is Saturday at The Battery. Registration opens at 7 a.m. The opening ceremony opens at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K to follow.
  • Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) plans its 10th annual Midtown Race for MAC 5K at Piedmont Park on Saturday. Since its inaugural race in 2014, the Midtown Race for MAC has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide essential emergency assistance to low-income working Atlantans. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. near Park Tavern and Midtown High School.

  • Decatur Arts Festival – May 3-5th! – decaturartsfestival.com
  • The Shaky Knees Music Festival brings the tunes to Atlanta this weekend, Friday through Sunday at Central Park. More than 60 bands, ranging from world-renowned acts to up-and-coming artists, will perform. Food trucks will serve everything from barbecue to vegetarian-friendly corn dogs. There will be photo booths, official festival merchandise and artist merchandise plus cell phone charging stations and free water refilling stations.
  • Join the city of Tucker on Tucker’s Main Street on May 4th for Tucker Day! This one-day, 65+ year old celebration includes food, crafts & goods vendors, music, a human-powered parade, a kid’s play zone, a scavenger hunt, and a whole lot of fun!
  • The Bodacious Blooms Flower Festival returns to Buckhead Village Thursday through Saturday.
